Biographical Summary
Mr. Avery has an extensive background in the amusement and leisure
industry. His specialized career began in 1976 as the Safety Manager for
Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. He remained there until his promotion
to corporate headquarters of Anheuser Busch Companies, Inc., in St. Louis, Missouri. In this position he assumed
corporate safety responsibilities for the Busch Entertainment
Corporation and the Wholesale Operations Division. The Busch
Entertainment
Corporation locations included: Busch Gardens Tampa, Florida; Busch
Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia;
Adventure Island, a theme water park in Tampa, Florida;
Sesame Place,
children participating play parks in Langhorne, Pennsylvania
and Irving, Texas, and Grant’s Farm, a public tour and zoological
attraction in St. Louis,
Missouri.
In 1986 Mr. Avery
returned to
Florida and
joined SeaWorld Parks, Inc., a division of Harcourt, Brace & Jovanovich
(HBJ). Mr. Avery accepted a position as Director of Risk Management.
After nine months Mr. Avery was promoted to Vice President of Safety,
Security, Rides and General Maintenance for Boardwalk & Baseball, Inc.,
a rides amusement park and home of the Kansas City Royals spring
training facility.
In 1990 Mr.
Avery decided to open his own business dedicated to preserving the
safety of the amusement and leisure industry. He initially called it
Systems Safety Management USA and continued to do so until 1998. In
November of 1998, Mr. Avery changed the name of the company to Avery
Safety Consulting. Since 1990 Mr. Avery has offered comprehensive
safety, loss prevention and expert witness services and has provided
exceptional quality,
integrity and
expertise to amusement industry professionals and attorneys around the
world.
